1965 Alfa romeo giulia ti
My personal “daily Giulia” is a 1965 Giulia TI which has been transformed into a TI SUPER clone done to my favorite style which is mid “60’s weekend racer”. I took much care to make sure the modifications are period correct in appearance- the way the factory works teams produced racers in1965. No billet parts, no overly large wheels, and all modifications intended to improve reliability and looks.
Engine/Drivetrain details: High-performance built 2000cc (1975 block and head) consisting of the following : Small “cathedral port” cylinder head with opened valve seats (75 degree throat to 45 degree), large race valves (45mm In/41mm Ex). Cylinder head: decked .040” to get 11:1 CR, RJR (13.1 In/12.8 Ex) camshafts, Iskanderian racing valve springs. Block: new 84mm AE 10.5:1 piston, lightened and modified to be “slipper” type in factory Alfa liners. Crank: Standard rod and mains on factory “red” crank with journals that measure .0002 to .0003 inches larger than common crank, balanced with slotted oil pick up holes. Connecting rods: Maxspeeding 4140 lightweight racing rods. Induction: Weber 45DCOE carburetors on European intake manifold, DV custom induction filter setup comprised of 45mm intake trumpets, custom filter backing plate, ITG foam pod filter, Centerline billet carburetor support strut. Ignition/Electrical: 123 Bluetooth distributor with silicon wires, Alfaholics battery box with Odyssey lightweight battery, Denso lightweight alternator. Suspension/Brakes/Wheels: Alfaholics springs, Koni Yellow dampers, Alfaholics ultra light weight trailing arms, Alfaholics 29mm front sway bar, Alfaholics lightweight spring pans, Alfaholics aluminum T-Bar, . New brake master cylinder, new Ate brake calipers on all 4 corners, New 15x5.5 Forged TZ alloy wheels on Vredstein Sprint Classic 155r15 tires.
Interior of the car is 100% original but has a set of Giulietta 750 gauges on a custom gauge pod designed to emulate Alfa’s Giulia TI Super racer cars of 1963/1964. Early cars such as this one feature a steel dashboard and glovebox and allow for the TI Super styling to take place.
In summary this car has classic looks of arguably the prettiest and most desirable year of the Giulia series. The 1963-1966 cars had the smallest bumpers, intricate stainless steel grilles, small Carello tail light assemblies and rear panel trim surround that later models lost. These early cars look most like the unicorn Giulia TI Super racers that are expensive and rare. With the upgrades described above, this little Giulia brings tons of ownership pleasure with it’s classic looks and very high performance oriented upgrades. The car is quite civilized and easy to drive on the street and has the power and gear ratios to drive on the fast lane all day long. In the canyons and on rallies, it has the handling and power to have a lot of fun and keep up with cars with much larger displacements.
